Devastating Dean

After claiming six lives and causing widespread damage in St Lucia and Martinique Hurricane Dean continued to intensify to a category 4 storm as it headed WNW. Jamaica and the Cayman Islands will bear the full brunt of the storm with winds gusting to 180 mph later today.

But Dean promises to become one of he most powerful hurricanes ever as it is scheduled to intensify further to a category 5 storm (mean windspeed over 155 mph) before making landfall on Mexico's Yucatan peninsula tomorrow, Monday.
