The day's two legs proved exciting, as teams were forced to withdraw
At 07:00 yesterday morning the fleet started to sail from Mariehamn, the main city of Åland archipelago, to Arsläjan – back in the Swedish islands across the Åland Sea. And it was clear from the start that it would be an exciting day.
Matti Nieminen ,skipper of team Ursuit, fell in the water right on the line. Plus, several teams got into trouble – especially during leg 6 in the afternoon. Different issues forced two teams to withdraw from the leg (team W4 and Sweden 42), while others had to retire from the whole race due to irreparable damage to their hulls (SWE 558 and team Premiere).
The day’s two legs were raced in a steady southerly breeze. From Mariehamn to Arsläjan, and from there to Norra Stavsudda, was won by team Audio Networks and Citus respecitively – two of the competitors hoping for overall victory.
Thule was also part of the battle as they have been all week. Yesterday too saw a new contender – McDonalds Huysman. Belgian Patrick Demesmaekerr and crew Michel Proot made a fourth, a fifth and a second in their best day so far.
Archipelago Raid – Top 5 standings:

2. Audio Networks 159.5 points
3. Thule 155.5 points
