Edinburgh has been confirmed as an entry in the Clipper 2009/10 Round the World Yacht Race. The yacht, named Edinburgh Inspiring Capital, will celebrate by sailing down the Firth of Forth into the city this summer.

Edinburgh Inspiring Capital will be one of ten identical, stripped down 68-foot racing yachts competing in the event. Sponsors include Uniquely Singapore, Qingdao, and Hull & Humber – all of whom are making return appearances. Joining the race for the first time will be California, Cape Breton Island, and Cork.

The 2009-10 race will start from the Humber on the north east coast of England on 13 September 2009, returning on 17 July 2010.
