Goss plans to sail her to Australia in October
This is Pete Goss’ 37 foot replica Cornish Lugger, Spirit of Mystery, during early sailing trials off Plymouth. Goss plans to re-create the voyage of seven Cornishmen who, in 1854, sailed the lugger Mystery to Melbourne, Australia, in search of a better life, a voyage that took them 116 days.
He plans to leave in October and his crew will consist of his brother Andy, his 14-year old son Eliot and his brother in law Mark Maidment.
Spirit of Mystery will be at the Southampton Boat Show on 12 September.
