More details and a dramatic picture of Keturah on fire in Antigua
Another very sad picture of Keturah, the 93ft German Frers designed sloop which caught fire following what could have been a lightening strike in Falmouth Harbour Antigua (see previous news story Fire In Antigua).
The composite yacht was built by Yachting Developments in Auckland New Zealand and was launched in 2003/04. The fire was thought to have started in the engineroom during the storm. Skipper Brent Daw was burned and sent to the States for treatment.
Quick thinking saw the stricken yacht towed clear of the Cat Club where she was moored and, as Ian McConnachie’s picture shows, there was plenty of local support on hand to try to save the yacht which was extremely badly damaged.
