George David’s 90ft supermaxi Rambler (ex Alfa Romeo) led by Ken Read not only took line honours yesterday at the Rolex Middle Sea Race but set a new course record time of 47 hours 55 minutes 3 seconds, and secured the overall race win.
This is only the second time ever in the event’s history this has happened. The previous occasion was in 2000 when Robert McNeill’s Zephyrus IV took an overall win and established a new record time of 64 hours 49 minutes and 57 seconds.
