Armel Le Cléac'h on Foncia has taken the initial lead of the final leg of La Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro
The fourth and final leg of the La Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro, from Cork to Port Bourgenay, started at 1000 this morning. In a fresh 20kt plus south-westerly breeze the 43-strong fleet headed out on port tack towards the first mark – the AGF buoy, 1.7 miles from the start. From here the fleet set off on a five-mile run east to the Radio France buoy before heading off on a direct course towards France (total of 428 miles).
Armel Le Cléac’h on Foncia rounded the mark at 10:53:08, covering 6.7 nautical miles in under an hour. Unfortunately for Le Cléac’h he had a poor result (30th) on leg three which dropped him down the overall rankings to 24th. The same could also be said for Gildas Morvan on Cercle Vert who’s currently lying second. Having won Leg 1 and was lying second overall after Leg 2, he had a 16th in Leg 3 which dropped him to 11th overall going into the final leg. Yann Eliès on Groupe Generali Assurances who’s 10th in the overall rankings is currently lying third.
The fleet is now preparing for the approaching low-pressure system which should arrive later this afternoon.
