West Mersea to host HR Owen OK National Championship
Preparations are well underway at Dabchicks Sailing Club for the arrival of 40 Oks that will be competing in the H R Owen OK Dinghy British National Championship on the 27-29 August.
Building on the huge success of previous OK open meetings and championships, Dabchicks, situated on the River Blackwater, is expecting some of Britain’s most talented dinghy sailors. Amongst them will be Jim Hunt, the 2004 OK world champion and the first Briton ever to hold the title.
Once again, Dabchicks will be working with generous sponsors H R Owen, who have supported a number of popular events in the past few years.
The eight-race series is sure to provide some fast paced, high energy sailing over the August Bank Holiday as competitors battle for the title of OK National Champion and attempt to win a spot to participate in the 2006 World Championship to be held in Australia, next February.
