For the first time since the beginning of the regatta on Wednesday a light 6-8 knot breeze allowed all eight of the classes to race in the build up towards tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) medal race finale.

The change in conditions was particularly important for the 49er class and the Tornados, both of which had been unable to race until today, the strong conditions denying them the opportunity to select the crews that would go forward to the medal races on Sunday.

By the close of play today, the 49ers had sailed four races and the Tornados five, allowing the selection to take place.

One medal race will be run for each class which will score for double points. These are then added to each team’s total score to give a final position in each class.
