Two races were completed today in all classes at the 35th Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships in Busan, Korea.

Seven races have been completed in this first stage of the championship, and the first discard has kicked in.

In the Laser class, Paige Railey (USA) and Rutger van Schaarenburg (NED), have maintained their overall leads, but Great Britain have bounced back today and are currently lying in second place in both the boys and girls fleets.

In the Mistral boys fleet, Poland’s Lukasz Grodzicki has had another great day on the water and maintains his lead by an impressive margin, but in the girls fleet it is still all to play for with only 3 points dividing the top four places, which is currently led by Laura Linares (ITA) with 12 points.

In the 420 boys class, Singapore’s Wee Chin Teo and Terence Koh have taken over the lead after a couple of days of really good consistent racing and results. While in the girls 420 fleet, the lead is still being dominated by the French pair of Lumeau and Bossard, who have won five of the seven races so far in this championship.

The racing is still really close in the Hobie fleet, the French and Australian teams are leading the class both on 16 points, followed by the British pair on 21 points.

France, USA, Great Britain and Australia are the nations battling it out at the top of the leader board and at this stage France are still the favourites for the Volvo Nations Trophy.

Tomorrow is lay day and the organisers have arranged a local cultural tour of Busan, racing will continue on Wednesday.
