The final day of the inaugural Dun Laoghaire regatta on Sunday saw blistering sunshine but a serious lack of wind.

Oysterhomes sponsored TP 52 Patches won Class Zero with two firsts, and after a jury decision to reinstate all boats who missed the time limit on Thursday, Colm Barrington’s Flying Glove narrowly beat Tim Costello sailing Tiamat, into third place.

Class Zero along with all the handicap fleets did not get racing on Saturday or Sunday due to no wind. In total they managed to complete only two races over the four days.

Patches owner, Eamon Conneely stated afterwards that he was delighted to have won the inaugural regatta. “The event was well organised and the race committee were extremely unlucky with wind conditions, however, the glorious sunshine offered a perfect setting for the onshore entertainment which was enjoyed by all the crew. Dun Laoghaire Regatta Championships has the all the ingredients for a great event, lets hope there will be wind in 2007.”
