Francis Joyon is ahead of Laurent Bourgnon at this stage of the singlehanded Transatlantic record attempt
Having broken the 24-hour singlehanded speed record yesterday see previous news story here Francis Joyon is now 53 miles ahead of the New York-Lizard record.
Joyon, who set sail from New York last Thursday in an attempt to beat the single-handed Atlantic crossing record, took the advantage over the weekend and is continuing to clock up the miles over current record holder Laurent Bourgnon.
To break the New York-Lizard record, Joyon must reach The Lizard before 11h 16m 8 secs GMT Thursday (7 July).
