Covey Island Boatworks, the Nova Scotian classic boatbuilder, is offering this two year old Herreshoff ketch Elsie, a Bounty/Tioga design, for sale in a ‘slow auction’ Built in 2002 she has been sailed and exhibited at several boat shows but never found a buyer.

The slow auction price starts at $875,000 and reduces at the rate of $25,000/month until she is sold so the first reduction will be to $850,000 on 1 June. Built ‘on spec’, the yacht has encountered a slow market for classic sailing yachts.  Covey Island president John Steele, says, “It is time to move the boat and for our yard to move on.  Although Elsie has earned Covey Island much favourable attention, she represents more inventory than we want to carry.”
