Quadriplegic sailor, Geoff Holt has arrived in Nairn having sailed through the Caledonian Canal 26/7/07
Forty-one-year old quadriplegic sailor, Geoff Holt, attempting to be the first disabled person to sail around Great Britain was forced to change his route due to the adverse weather conditions. This resulted in sailing the Caledonian Canal. He has now completed this stretch of the challenge and arrived at Nairn in Scotland yesterday.
Holt sailed for more than 11 hours, six of them spent sailing through the many locks on the canal. After completing the voyage he headed for Nairn, with a good offshore breeze and plenty of dolphins and seals to keep him company.
Weather permitting Holt will commence the next leg of his voyage to Buckie this morning.
