A total of 29 eager Phantom sailors turned out to enjoy the first Travellers event of 2005 at Haversham Sailing Club, just north of Milton Keynes last Saturday.

Many had travelled a long way and the fantastic sunshine and Force 2-3 made it worthwhile.

The format was two races back-to-back in the morning and the same following lunch (3 of 4 to count)

The good nature of the class was very well evident throughout, as many of the marks were very congested in the early stages of each race. As groups broke away distinct ‘races within’ took place, this enabled everyone from the front to the rear to enjoy the battle for their position.

At the end of the third race the top five were on similar points and the fourth race was critical to the end result.

Finally as usual with smaller lakes, local knowledge was an advantage and Richard Pakes overtook Tyler Harmsworth on one of the tricky mark roundings to take the lead in the last race, enabling a win on count back. Will Gulliver finished third followed by Nick Beloe, giving P&B Sails a clean sweep of the top four, Ian Howett finished fifth.
