Hilliar and Jagger win RS400 event at Aldeburgh to leave overall circuit hanging on the final event 12/7/07
A total of 23 RS400s turned out at Aldeburgh YC last weekend. The first race started in 13 knots and sunshine, with an increasing tide pushing the fleet over the line.
Paul and Mike Allen took and early lead downwind that they never relinquished, to be followed home by Paul Hilliar/Stu Jagger and Jon Gorringe/Louise Hosken.
In the next race, Gorringe/Hosken led from the Allens but a large windshift let Hilliar/Jagger past to win. In the third race although the Allens led early on, Hilliar/Jagger again won following a thunder cloud causing mayhem over the course.
On Sunday, sailors were treated to classic sea breeze and sunshine, with a slack tide. Hilliar/Jagger took the first race, followed by the Allens, while in the second race the winners were the same but this time Gorringe/Hosken had pushed them all the way, with Giles/Heather Chipperfield in third.
In the final race with a strong tide under the fleet, the Allens and the Chipperfields came through downwind, with the Allens holding on for victory.
This gave Hilliar/Jagger overall victory and the lead in the Fat Face circuit with one race to go. The final event is at Weston SC on 11-12 August, the week before the nationals at Parkstone.
