The stricken Oryx Quest yacht, with her damaged starboard beam, arrived in Fremantle last night
At 19:40 French time (02:40 local time) yesterday, Geronimo the Capgemini/Schneider Electric trimaran, was finally secured alongside a marina in Fremantle.
As predicted, the stricken Oryx Quest yacht, with her damaged starboard beam, had to wait until the hours of darkness for the thermal wind to drop sufficiently before she could approach the coast in safety.
Having met with the tug chartered by the shore team, the trimaran was towed to the berth awaiting her in the marina and, aided by RIBs, the crew were finally able to moor the giant.
Once moored up work immediately commenced and the beam was opened up to open up to establish the extent of the damage. More news when we have it.
