French race organisers have long been fans of complicated animated race viewers that often refuse to do what they are supposed to but it’s great to see that the Calais Round Britain race site is using Google Earth. Quite frankly, it can’t be topped. And they have abandoned confusing and, for most people, meaningless telemetry: ie instrument data (and spurious factology) from the yachts.

But what is it with the compulsory music on their site? They have broken a cardinal rule of websites: they’ve made it watching it at work conspicuous and possibly embarrassing. Bah!
