Dabchicks SC this weekend, once again welcomed the OK fleet for the first of four World Qualifying events of the year. The prize for qualifying will be a trip to the Worlds in Warnemunder, Germany next year.

Race 1 on Saturday started in glorious sunshine and a Force 3. Terry Curtis rounded first pursued by Keith Byers and Mike Edwards. Curtis showing great speed was never challenged, with Mike Edwards second and Neil Goodhead just holding off Dan Ager for third.

The wind increased slightly for the second race and once again Curtis led from start to finish. Ian Harris chased Curtis hard into second, with Dave Carroll making a welcome return to the class finishing third and Andy Turner proving he still has it in a blow in fourth.

Curtis led once again in race thre, followed by Harris and Carroll. On the first reach Ager found another gear and blasted past four or five boats into second. At the finish Curtis held a commanding lead with Ager in second place. Harris showing good speed finished third, with Byers who has returned to the fleet after a few years rest in fourth.

Sunday dawned with beautiful sunshine and little wind. The fleet launched and eventually made it out to the racing area, as the wind died completely. Having waited for a while for the sea breeze that never materialized, Race Officer Peter Fitt cancelled the racing and the fleet were towed home.

So Curtis with three bullets took the honours, from Ager second, Edwards third and Harris fourth.
