Tony Bullimore could be setting off on solo circumnavigation record attempt any time now 19/3/07

After three months waiting for a decent weather window, Tony Bullimore could be setting off on his solo circumnavigation record attempt any time now.

According to Barry Pickthall from the press office team 68-year-old Bullimore has started final preparations for his crack at the 70-day, solo record attempt and should be leaving Hobart within two weeks. Commenting this morning Pickthall told yachtingworld.com: “We’re all set for leaving by the end of the month. The weather opportunities are increasing as we’re getting towards the end of the summer, so it’ll be anytime within the next two weeks.”

Despite being fully loaded with all supplies Bullimore’s 102ft catamaran Doha 2006 is being put through the paces off Hobart testing new sails and equipment. Bullimore added: “The big cat is ready and we are hopeful of getting a good break in the weather patterns in the next two weeks that will allow me to set off for Cape Horn.”
