Star and Tornado classes sail their final race of the series in winds that have characterised the second week of the event, despite a more promising outlook this morning when stronger breezes were in force.

Star – 6th overall

Iain Percy & Steve Mitchell – Knowing that you’re out of medal contention before the start of the race while still coming to terms with the fact that they had fully expected to do better must have made it very tough to go out and sail to their best on the last day. The best that they could hope for was a 4th if Cayard came 15th or worse. Fat chance you might think, but after a good start and a well sailed race they were robbed at the finish by a big wind shift to finish 4th. Cayard was last. Strange things happen at the Olympics

Tornado – 13th Overall

Leigh McMillan & Mark Buckeley – A 15th in the final race moved the pair up one place in the overall standings.

470 Women – Christina Bassadone and Katherine Hopson – 7th overall

Women’s Windsurfer – Natasha Sturges – 9th overall

Europe – Laura Baldwin – 23rd overall
