A Bronze for Hiscocks and Draper in the 49er class

Bronze is confirmed for the British pair in the 49er. The medal may not have been the colour they were working towards but their result keeps Britain at the top of the medals league in sailing and continues to keep us ahead of any other discipline in the British team.

49er – Bronze

Chris Draper and Simon Hiscocks – A layday may have given the pair time to think about their game plan but in the end, light shifty winds made life very tricky on the 49er course. Despite finishing ahead of the eventual gold medallists the Spanish, Hiscocks and Draper remained at bronze.

Star – 7th overall

Iain Percy & Steve Mitchell – An equally disheartening day afloat. A 7th in the first race and 17th, last in the second race puts the Star team out of the medal zone for the games. Their worst nightmare. Hiscocks and Draper may have been disappointed initially at their bronze medal but perhaps this will help them put the achievement into perspective.

Tornado – 14th Overall

Leigh McMillan & Mark Buckeley – A 16th and a 15th keeps the pair 13th overall with one race to go
