The Raymarine Warsash Spring Series begins on 11 March 2007 and is set to kick off the UK sailing season with plenty of thrills and spills.

The Series is in its 24th year, and has always been popular with boats big and small. There will be some added features this year to make it even better such as two “big boat” weekends, racing under IRC and IRM and two Spring Championship weekends for White Group boats, with a separate start line for Laser SB3s. The Sportsboat Rule class is now permitted to have trapezes and moveable ballast. There will be level class racing for J/109, J/105, Laser SB3, Hunter 707, 1720 and J/80. And any class with eight or more boats in an IRC-rated class will get extracted results.

So far there are ten entries in the Big Boat class including Jerry Otter’s Farr 45 Werewolf, which placed first in the Big Boat IRM class, first in the Black group IRC1 class and second in the Big Boat IRC class of last year’s Warsash Spring Series.

The popular Laser SB3s already have thirty entries and are hotting up to be the ones to watch. Racers to look out for are Midwinters Laser SB3 winner Geoff Carveth in Small but Steamy, dinghy champion Jerry Hill for Team Touareg, Mark Reddington with his team Calaghan and Stewart in Gill – Racing Snake, as well as James Howells in Monex and Primo Cup 2007 winner Craig Burlton in Monkeyoffice.co.uk.

Warsash Sailing Club will be hosting the event, based at Shore House by the entrance to the River Hamble where class prizes of Mumm champagne will be available in the Club each week.
