Can the Aussies get their own back on the English at the Skandia Cowes Week?
Skandia Cowes Week supporting sponsor MOBi-lert is bringing a taste of Australian Sports to Skandia Cowes Week. Since losing to England in the Final of the Rugby World Cup, the Australians have been plotting to take their revenge on the English and this might just be their chance.
Each evening between 1800-2100 starting on Saturday 7 August, an Australian Rules Kicking Challenge is being fronted by MOBi-lert on Cowes Parade. For a £1 entry fee participants get two attempts at kicking an Australian Rules Football into a tube that is floating off the Parade Stage area. All seems straightforward to an Englishman, but apparently it’s not as easy as it looks, according to Brenton Scott CEO of MOBi-lert. “Aussie Rules footballs are weighted to make them bounce awkwardly, so kicking them is a real art. We Australians might have the upper foot on this game but you can always try and prove us wrong,” he quipped!
There are prizes for the successful kickers who get a ball in the floating ring which is situated 30m away and all the entry proceeds are being donated to the Event’s official charity Sail 4 Cancer.
