Disadvantaged teenagers to take part in Tall Ships Race
The Morning Star Trust is joining forces with Kent 16plus, run by national young people’s charity Rainer in partnership with Kent County Council, to offer five free places for under supported young people in the 2004 International Tall Ships Race.
The five Kent teenagers will join a crew of young people aboard Morning Star – a 62ft Gaff Ketch Yacht – in order to compete with up to 100 other sailing vessels as they race from Belgium to Denmark. They will then cruise in company to Norway before racing back to Germany. The event takes place between 21 July – 18 August 2004.
Nick Gainsford, manager of the Morning Star Trust says; “We are thrilled to be able to offer these young people a chance of a lifetime, it will be an experience they will remember and draw from for the rest of their lives”
