The 470 world championships are well and truly underway in Zadar, Croatia with a further three races completed yesterday in 8 knots breeze.

Team GBR sailors Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield sailed a consistent day and after five races have moved up into thirteenth place overall, after scoring a fifth, tenth and a fourth.

RYA Development Squad sailors Nick Asher and Elliot Willis are giving their team mates a run for their money and two second places in the first two races of the day sees them placed twelfth overall.

Currently leading the men’s fleet are the 1996 Olympic gold medallists Yevgen Braslavets and Igor Matvienko of Ukraine who have a six point lead over Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page of Australia.

In the women’s fleet Therese Torgersson and Vendela Zachrisson of Sweden put in a good performance, scoring two first places amongst their score line, to lead the fleet from Vesna Dekleva and Klara Maucec.

A mixed day for Team GBR sailors Christina Bassadone and Katherine Hopson sees them placed sixteenth overall after five races.

The 470 competitors have two more days of qualifying races, where they are split into groups, before going on to race the final series from the 13-16 May.
