Mini Transat hopeful Clemency Williams has secured Burgs clothing as title sponsor for 2004
Mini Transat hopeful Clemency Williams has secured Burgs clothing as title sponsor for 2004. The sponsorship contract is for three years and will be subject to review.
Commenting on the recent announcement, Williams said: “I am thrilled that Burgs Clothing have thrown their support behind my Mini Transat campaign – it really is much appreciated. It means that I now have every chance of being able to qualify for the Mini Transat as well as competing in two or three races this summer. The boat is handling beautifully and it’s just great to be able to be out on the water with her at long last – she’s got great potential.”
The ultimate aim of Williams’ team is to enable her to qualify for, and compete in the gruelling 4,500-mile trans-Atlantic race in her 21ft sailing boat; by achieving this goal, she would become one of the few British females to compete in the race. The event is traditionally dominated by French yachtsmen, but previous British female competitors have included Ellen MacArthur and Sam Davies.
