Ross Hobson and Andi Newman's 50ft catamaran limped across the Transat Jacques Vabre finish line yesterday with damaged mast foot
Ross Hobson and Andi Newman finished the Transat Jacques Vabre at 0558 yesterday morning after 5,000 miles and a lot of adventures since leaving Le Havre a few weeks ago. see previous news story here
Commenting from the dockside Hobson said: “We had a full fireworks and a loud music reception on our arrival – what the locals must have thought of that at 0300 local time, I really don’t know. We are grateful that we have succeeded in completing the race and being first (and only) 50ft multihull to finish. In addition, we are the first all British multihull to win in such a race for many years (probably since Tony Bullimore and Apricot). We are a bit disappointed not to have been able to sail Mollymawk to her full potential – but that’s life…. now for a shower and some sleep.”
