The crew of ABN AMRO Two bids an emotional farewell to friend and team mate earlier today 22/5/06
The body of Han Horrevoets, the ABN AMRO Two crewman who died last Thursday morning was transferred to a Royal Netherlands Naval frigate at 0837 this morning.
In winds of 25 kts off Falmouth skipper Seb Josse and his crew bid an emotional farewell to their much-loved friend and team mate holding a minute’s silence as Hans was taken off the yacht in a RIB to the Dutch frigate – HNLMS Van Galen.
Hans’ body will now be taken back to his home town of Terhijden, in the Netherlands for repatriation and a funeral with family and friends.
AMN AMRO Two have now resumed racing en-route to Portsmouth and is expected to cross the finish line off Gilkicker Point at 2200 this evening.
The crew of movistar who were also onboard ABN AMRO Two having abandoned their yacht yesterday, were taken by RIB to Falmouth earlier in the day and are currently en-route to Portsmouth.
