Yves Parlier, sailing his 60 foot ‘hydraplaneur’ twin rigged catamaran Médiatis Région Aquitaine has, subject to confirmation by the WSSRC established two new 24-hour solo records with a 585 mile run. He takes the outright 24 hour record from Francis Joyon who established it at 542.7 miles in 2005 as well as the under 60ft record of 540 miles set by Laurent Bourgnon sailing Primagaz back in 1994. Last year Parlier was injured and the boat extensively damaged when she capsized attempting the same record.
