Jonathan McKee has doubled his lead over second-placed Armel Tripon.

Early this morning, the leader of the second leg of the Mini-Transat had already long since passed the archipelago of islands off the Cap Vert. Closest competitor Armel Tripon is now 54 miles behind.

In 24 hours, the former Olympic champion has made 174 miles and almost doubled his lead. Even Samuel Manuard, the winner of the first leg to Puerto Calero, cannot keep up with the pace. Mc Kee’s increased lead is not a question of his route. The other competitors have followed him, passing between the largest islands in the archipelago: Sal and Sao Nicolau and then between Fogo and Sao Tiago.

In the Pogo class David Raison (440 Rayon Liquide) is still leading the field and has added a bit less than a mile to his advantage over Erwan Tymen (426 Pogo 2 Navy Lest) since yesterday.

As the other competitors reach the islands, some much needed repairs will be undertaken for Pia l’Obry (316 Expatria.fr), Stéphane Ayrault (135 Wyeth) and Arthur Barret (29 Ubaye).
