The 2,900 mile second leg of the Mini Transat started at 1302 today from Port Calero, Lanzarote. A total of 67 boats from the original 70-boat fleet crossed the line in a north-easterly 15kt breeze in bright sunshine and flat sea.

The three boats that didn’t make the start included Tiphaine Vrignault, Caroline Vieille and François-Jacques Jauffrineau (the 277-Vendée Prisma) who hadn’t quite completed the repairs to his mast. He will however, start within the next few hours.

David Lancry, the Frenchman sailing his Cabon 91 designed proto, who only arrived in Lanzarote last night having been delayed with a broken mast, caught up with some sleep last night and set off with the rest of the fleet.
