Yachting World Wins Laser SB3 Class at Cowes
Racing in the Laser SB3 class in the white group at Cowes, Yachting World, skippered by tech ed Matthew Sheahan and helmed by Jonty Sherwill, won their class at Cowes and were 6th overall in the white group class.
In one of the hottest, lightest Cowes Week regattas on record, the YW team scored four wins, a second and a third to take the overall prize for the week.
“The best days were the breezy ones on Monday and Tuesday when double figure speeds were the norm downwind,” said Matt.
“The SB3 may be one of the smallest boats at Cowes, but she’s a superb boat to sail in the light or stronger breezes and you don’t need to be an Olympic sailor to handle her.”
Having said that, the YW boat played host to Ben Ainslee at the beginning of the week as he stepped aboard to take the helm for the first race. And while Ainslee’s track record speaks for itself, not everything went according to plan.
