Although PRB is leading the fleet as it heads down the East Coast, Sill and Bobst Group Armor Lux are giving her a good run for her money
The Calais Round Britain and Ireland race fleet is currently just off Edinburgh heading down the East Coast in south south-easterly winds of 12-15 knots. Vincent Riou’s PRB is leading the fleet with Sill and Bobst Group Armor Lux hot on her heels. Vincent Riou (PRB) commented from the boat this morning: “We are currently sailing along gently in 12 knots of wind on a flat sea. Sill is beside us. We spent the night zig-zagging under the clouds to find a little pressure.” François Sheek (Sill) added: “The war is on with PRB. We’re neck and neck. One minute we’re ahead the next behind? We’re sailing in 12 knots of wind with full main and solent, 100 metres from each other, stuck fast. Otherwise the boat is gliding across a flat sea.”
While these two and Bobst Group Armor Lux battle it out in a tacking match down the North Sea, Mike Golding is quietly moving up the fleet and is definitely one to watch out for is during the final 300-mile sprint to the finish.
