One Step Ahead, the Bashford 41 has retired from the DaimlerChrysler North Atlantic Challenge with electrical failure
Just over 24 hours after reports of Zephyrus V’s retirement from the DaimlerChrysler North Atlantic Challenge with rudder damage, and Meltemi who retired with electrical problems, One Step Ahead reported her withdrawal from the race yesterday.
This Bashford 41 built in 1999, owned by Hans Ostmeier and skippered by Kaspar Stubenrauch, both of Germany, reported that the onboard electrical system had failed and is currently en route to Great Britain.
Of the 63 yachts to start the race from Newport, 55 are currently still competing in the 3,600 nautical mile race. Zaraffa, who completed the race on Saturday, is the only boat to have finished the race so far.
