The third round of the 2003 Fat Face Racing Circuit saw 39 RS800s take part
The third round of the 2003 Fat Face Racing Circuit saw 39 RS800s arriving at Stokes Bay for the event, shared with the 700s and 300s.
By the end of the first run in Race 1, James Date/Liam Murray had taken the lead. Joe Turnbull/Ben Saynor were not giving up, however, regaining the lead twice more before finishing a close second to Date/Murray with Steve Irish/Martin Gotrell in third.
Race 2 started in an increasing tide, encouraging a the dash for the shore. Nick Peters/Nicky Griffin led from start to finish with Barrie Edgington/Ian Lovering and Chris Hawarth/Stuart Aston battling for second, with Edgington succeeding in this fight.
Race 3 was led from the start by Date/Murray, followed initially by Max Capener/Matt McGovern, and Edgington/Lovering. Capener/McGovern were OCS, and Date/Murray were never really challenged.
Day 2 produced a westerly wind straight down the Solent again, and Race 4 was led by Edgington/Lovering from start to finish with Date/Murray pulling through Peters/Griffin, Irish/Gotrell and Spod Olive/Mike Warren to take second.
At the start of race five the breeze increased to 20kts. Olive/Warren had another good race, coming from sixth to win. Carveth/Davies win Race 6, with Date/Murray doing enough to take the event with a 1,3,1,2,2 scoreline.
