The success of the recent inaugural Round Britain and Ireland Challenge has led the organisers, Challenge Business, to run another event later this year. In association with The Daily Telegraph, the event will follow a similar format, with teams starting in The Solent (on Saturday 30 August) in identical 72 ft yachts and racing clockwise around Britain and Ireland returning approximately 12 days/1,800 n miles later.

Onboard each yacht will be a professional skipper and mate accompanied by 16 crew members made up of men and women from all walks of life and nationalities.

Potential crew need not necessarily have prior sailing experience because Challenge Business train all participants during their two five-day training sails during July and August plus a week of race training and preparation prior to departure.

The fee for a place on a boat during the race is £3,750 which includes sail and race training, wet weather gear, shore gear, full race insurance and invitation to the farewell party and the prize giving. For your chance to win a place in the race, watch out for the Daily Telegraph’s forthcoming competition.
