If you own a Lark the class association would like to hear from you
In advance of its 40th anniversary celebrations in 2007, the Lark class is setting itself the ambitious target of tracing all the Larks still in existence. They want to find the current whereabouts and owners of all Larks whether new or old, active or abandoned.
The main reason for doing this is that class has been experiencing a strong resurgence for the last 3-4 years, and now has a shortage of second hand boats and an ever-increasing number of people looking to buy and sail Larks. In addition to this the class would like to get as many Larks that still float on the water at a huge celebration event next year.
Since Mike Jackson designed the Lark in 1967, over 2500 boats have been built; with the oldest known Lark in existence currently being Lark 12 that still sails every weekend at Frensham SC.
So if you own a Lark, or know of Larks in your club that are rarely used, please go on http://www.larkclass.org/register/boat_register.php and fill in as many details as you have. The class will then add this information to its database and offer the owners (where permission is granted) appropriate training, advice and support. Where more is known about the history of a boat registered than the owner can provide, the class will add known history like past owners and Championship wins.
As an additional incentive to register your Lark the class will be offering all existing Lark owners who are not members of the association one year’s free membership as a trail (normally £30). This means you will receive Lark News containing tuning tips, articles and all sorts of useful advice three times a year as well as being able to have your say in the future of the class.
