PlayStation is looking set to break the East-West TransAtlantic record
With just 1,041 miles to go, Steve Fossett and his crew aboard the 125ft catamaran PlayStation are looking set to break the East-West TransAtlantic record. After six days at sea they are now heading for the finish line at Bahamian island of San Salvador. If all goes well Team PlayStation should arrive on Sunday night or early Monday morning.
Last night Brian Thompson reported that although they are 30 miles behind Club Med at this stage of the race, they should be 100nm ahead by the end of today.
The time to beat is Club Med’s 10 Days 14 hours 53 mins 44 secs, so they need to finish before Tuesday 25th Feb at 14:54.24. As long as they can retain an average speed of 11.98 kts and avoid the worst of the high pressure zone, the outlook looks good for Team PlayStation.
