President of the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, Prasert Boonsong said; “This year there are more than 75 entries, that is more than his Majesty’s age!” The KC regatta was started in 1987 to celebrate his Majesty the King’s 60th Birthday.
Andy Dowden, President of the KC committee also welcomed the arrival of over 500 crew members; “The race committee have devised an interesting mixture of race courses. It looks promising but we can’t control the weather, enjoy the parties and have good sailing.”
The tropical weather in Phi Phi set in for a good couple of hours in the latter part of the evening. But, fears of a monsoon by some competitors were put aside when this morning’s sunrise set the scene for an exciting days racing.
