After a day spent waiting for the wind yesterday at the IMS world championship in Bayona, Spain, the fleet is currently heading for the start line in hope of starting the first race today (Tuesday). If the wind holds, the race officer intends to run a series of races over windward/leeward courses today and tomorrow with an offshore race on Thursday and prizegiving on Friday.

There are 18 entries, including the Sinergia 40 with Pedro Perello Canal at the helm. He was the guy who headed up the last Spanish AC attempt who’s great rival to Inaki Castaner, head of North Sails Spain, so the chance of some hot Spanish competition is looking reasonably strong.

Other boats in the fleet include IMX 40s Farr 39s, First 40.7s, BH36s and X412s.
