The results pack has been shuffled in the IRC Class 0 rumble for the prestigious Queen’s Cup following a successful request for redress.

First across the Royal Yacht Squadron line and placed provisionally first on handicap but later dropped to second was Kit Hobday’s Farr 52, Bear of Britain. The reason for the change in position was the successful request for redress by the IC45 Wolf, skippered by Glynn Williams. Wolf was one of no less than 20 yachts that strayed into the White Group line but was the first to realise that the penalty had been wrongly applied.

Second across the line and fourth on handicap was Team Tonic. She has been newly acquired by Nick Hewson, is helmed by Jeremy Robinson and crewed by a number of Hamble hotshots. Hewson’s Farr 52 has a good racing history and with the experience of those onboard, this is a yacht that is expected to produce some good results this year. Third on handicap was the Mills 50 Mandrake, skippered by Peter Morton and Adam Gosling.

Third across the line and fifth on handicap according to provisional results was Volvo For Life, a Swan 70, helmed by Olympic Laser sailor Ben Ainslie. Grinning from ear-to-ear, the gold medallist received a pat on the back from fellow crewmen.

Elsewhere the Redwing Quail was the first boat to take the gun in the 2002 edition of Skandia Life Cowes Week.
