David Ellis and Rob Andrews sailing Henri Lloyd notched up a good string of results to secure an overall win in the Italian leg of the Laser 4000 Eurocup
The Italian leg of the 2002 Laser 4000 Eurocup was once again hosted at Fraglia Dela Vela Riva, at the north end of Lake Garda between 10-13 July.
The event saw Garda perform to the usual satisfaction with light winds in the morning a full-on blaster during the afternoon.
The first day saw the usual suspects, Luke/Emma (Printware) lying first winning two races with David/Rob (Henri Lloyd) showed notching up a win in the third.
The second day saw the fleet settle into their consistent results after an unsettling previous day for many. There was close racing even on the dogleg to the finish where there were only a few feet between finishing first, second and third. This was close but not nearly as close as the next 25 boats that followed.
By the end of day three there was a no change in the top four positions, however, with only 25 points between third and tenth, there was a lot to play for on the final day.
Unfortunately the final day produced a mixed bag of conditions with too much wind then too little which resulted in the cancellation of the last day’s racing.
