Despite leaving the London 2012 test event empty handed, the laser radial specialist says it wasn't a wasted opportunity
Charlotte Dobson might have left the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta empty handed, but the GB sailor insists her trip to the Olympic venue was far from a wasted journey.
With wins as high as second place, and finishes as low as 19th, Dobson ended the race ninth overall.
However, Dobson believes her time spent on the Olympic waters will still prove to be invaluable despite having nothing solid to show for her efforts.
“I think I have learnt a lot in terms of how the Olympics will be raced because it is completely different to anything else I have done and the standard is much higher,” she said. “I am in the driving seat but the Olympics is just under a year away now so if I want to be where I want to be I have some work to do.”
