Two-time Olympic silver medallist Nick Rogers might have left the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta empty-handed but it has done little to dent to his London 2012 confidence.

The 34-year-old endured an up-and-down time at the London 2012 test event with fleet race finishes as high as first in the 470 alongside partner Chris Grube but also as low as 21st.

When the Weymouth waters had settled Rogers found himself fifth overall, just eight points off the podium that was convincingly topped by French duo Pierre Leboucher and Vincent Garos.

Despite finishing without a medal, Rogers insists his lofty Olympic hopes remain intact, believing a few tweaks is all that is needed to ensure lightning doesn’t strike twice in next year.

“I feel we are working well together and there are some things we have addressed,’ he said. “As for the test event we worked on our downwind speed and I feel that we have made a big step there so I am confident that when we aim for something we are hitting our target.”
