Helensburgh
sailor Charlotte Dobson believes her hard work is finally paying off after a
confidence-boosting outing at the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta
yesterday.

The 25-year-old was battling to stay in the top ten for Friday’s medal race and
she did just that with finishing of second and tenth.

This means she heads into tomorrow’s showdown in ninth place, some way off the
tussle for medals which sees Holland’s Marit Bouwmeester have gold wrapped up
after a dominating week at the London 2012 venue.

Despite being unable to finish on the podium at the Olympic test event, Dobson
insists it has been far from a wasted journey after seeing her hard work in
training finally pay off in the windy conditions yesterday.

“It has been a real learning week for me really,” she said. “I struggled for
form on the second day and that has hurt me a lot in the overall standings but
I am happy with how the last few days have gone and showing improvements in the
windy conditions has really topped it off.”
