Day one of the Rolex Women’s Match, an International Sailing Federation (ISAF) grade 4 match racing regatta, kicked off on Friday afternoon (22 February) at St Petersburg Yacht Club.

However, light winds prevented the race committee, under the leadership of Tom Farquhar, to continue racing past the first flight of round robin one. Five matches were sailed before the wind died completely and racing was abandoned.

The morning was reserved for an on-the water drills session with America’s Cup sailor and world match racing champion Ed Baird, who concluded a two-day clinic for the ten teams.

The racing concludes today, Sunday.
