Having taken the lead yesterday afternoon, Amer Sports One has pulled out a nine-mile lead and is revelling in the 25 knot breeze. She’s now on a latitude of 50 nautical miles to the north of the two southernmost boats, News Corp and Tyco.

The Southern Ocean buster has finally kicked in and life on board is far more uncomfortable than it has been for the previous few days. With the temperature dropping rapidly, crews are starting to layer up which takes them half an hour before their on deck.
