Keith Kilpatrick, crewman aboard Grant Dalton’s Amer sports One, who’s suffering with a stomach illness is being treated by onboard medic, Roger Nilson.

Lying in sixth position, Amer Sports One is currently 1,500 miles south west of Australia, 172nm behind race leader SEB, and the nearest boat to her is News Corp who is over 100nms ahead.

Kilpatrick is currently receiving antibiotics and morphine from Nilson, the only medical doctor in the race, but supplies are running out. The RAAF’s P3 is expected to arrive at the boat by 1330 with a fresh supply.

Meanwhile at the front of the fleet the action is hotting up once again as the fleet approaches the high pressure system. SEB still retains the lead while illbruck, in second lost some ground overnight and is now just two miles ahead of Assa Abloy.

Back in South Africa Team Tyco, who had to abort the second leg of the race because of a broken rudder, has decided to send the yacht by container ship to Sydney. The container ship, the Mediterranean Shipping Line vessel “Katy,” will arrive in Sydney on 12 December, taking approximately three weeks.
