Having led for much of the second leg of the Mini Transat, Brian Thompson was overtaken by Yannickk Bestaven in the last few hours of the race
In the early hours of the morning of 30 October, Yannick Bestavan crossed the finish line in Salvador de Bahia, winner of the second leg of the Mini Transat. Twenty seven minutes later Briton Brian Thompson, sailing Lighthouse Life Foundation finished in second place, having led this leg right up until the last few hours. Bestaven, sailing Aquarelle.com, had stayed well inshore as he shadowed Thompson and over the last few days gradually whittled away at his apparently unassailable lead. More reports from Salvador de Bahia will follow.
